Is there any way at all that i can change a characters name?

even if it means contacting anet.. is this possible?

No you can't. Unless you have someone report your name.

Make a new character with the name you want.

Get your friends to report you for an offensive name and force a name lock. Every piece of armor and anything customized to you is gone though.

Initial effect - 72hour ban. or is it 48, i dunno i cant remember.

That is Incorrect. I just recently went through this process and everything that was customized just kept my old name. I still had all my stuff and could use it.

There are two ways.

Way 1) Reroll the character

Way 2) Get people to /report you for character name, come back 3 days later with a better name.

I've been thinking about this myself lately so I was interested to read through this thread. Getting reported to perform a name change might work but I wouldn't do it without contacting anet first. Has anyone ever successfully done that?

has made me think a little >.<
ive just bought Obsidian Armor for my Sin and Chaos Gloves and i dont like the name of the character..... i need someone to confirm that i will definately not lose all my obby armor and chaos gloves... ty

Everyone just confirmed you won't lose it. Just get some people to report your name and when your 72 hour or w/e ban is up it will tell you to change your name.

Don't make retarded names to begin with.

Everything customized to you(armor, weapons, etc) will display your old name. But you will still be able to equip and use them.

That said, the /report system was not meant for this. Abuse it at your own risk.
